Campus Recruiting Spotlight: Virginia Tech

By:  Ryan Beethoven-Wilson, CPA, Tax Manager

If you’re reading this from Blacksburg, Virginia, chances are you have seen the Keiter name and logo on campus during the last few months.  As one of our main target schools for recent college graduates, we keep a regular presence at Virginia Tech’s Pamplin College of Business throughout the school year.

On two recent occasions, Patrick Cureton and I were on campus in front of tax classes taught by Dr. Debra Salbador.  In April of 2016, we presented real-world examples of state, local, and international tax issues to students in Dr. Salbador’s Multijurisdictional Taxation course.  This past September, we returned to present a case study to a graduate-level Tax Research course on the net investment income tax, as applied to real estate professionals.  Both presentations gave students a glimpse into the types of clients and projects they can expect to encounter in public accounting, and provided an opportunity for students to inquire about the professional opportunities available at an accounting firm like Keiter.

On Campus Involvement

In addition to the presentations mentioned above, Keiter has recently sent representatives to Virginia Tech for several other activities, including:

  • Meet the Firms
  • Business Horizons career fair
  • Networking happy hours and on-campus interviews
  • Pamplin diversity lunch, and yearly sponsorship of the Business Diversity Center
  • Company day in Pamplin

In addition, Keiter hosts events at our Richmond office for Virginia Tech alumni and prospective Virginia Tech students, two groups which further strengthen the Firm’s partnership with the school.

Keiter currently counts over 20 Hokie alumni among its ranks in addition to the many Virginia Tech students we have hosted through our internship and externship programs.  The college experience at Virginia Tech has prepared thousands for a successful career and Keiter is a firsthand beneficiary of that quality education.
