With the holiday season around the corner, giving back to our community is even more important to keep in mind than usual. Keiter held its 6th Annual Keiter Volunteer Day where the office was closed all day to allow everyone in the firm an opportunity to give back to the community through a group clean-up project at Maymont.
Maymont is a beautiful, 100-acre estate donated to the City of Richmond by James and Sallie Dooley almost 100 years ago. The now public grounds offer gardens, animal exhibits, mansion tours, and a nature center. There is no admission charged for access to the grounds, which makes it critical for Maymont to utilize volunteer groups to lend many hands to help maintain and preserve it.
Keiter volunteers dedicated 300 volunteer hours, which is the equivalent to a $7,000 donation, through activities such as clearing overgrowth from the animal habitats, tallying 14,000 Easter eggs, detailing over 150 chairs and 20 tables, planting over 2,500 bulbs and 10 shrubs, and assisting with the upkeep of the surrounding grounds areas.
Our employees volunteer time and resources to several civic organizations in the Central Virginia region making it a goal to help uplift and build a strong local community. At Keiter, you will find everyone partakes in community involvement and outreach activities.
