Nickerson and Sinsabaugh Receive Certified Construction Auditor Designation

We are proud to announce that Business Assurance & Advisory Services Partner and Manager, Doug Nickerson, CPA, CGFM, CFE, CIA, CCA and Brett Sinsabaugh, CPA, CCA received the Certified Construction Auditor (CCA) certification from the National Association of Construction Auditors (NACA). The CCA certification focuses on accounting, auditing, and consulting professionals whose primary experience is in the field of auditing and evaluating internal controls in the construction project environment. Our construction industry experts stay ahead of industry changes and trends in order to provide excellent service to our construction industry clients through active involvement in many construction associatons such as the Association of General Contractors for Virginia (AGCVA), Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), and Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW).


Doug has over 20 years of experience in corporate accounting and public accounting providing assurance and consulting services to clients in the real estate and construction, manufacturing and distribution industries, professional and financial services firms, privately-held companies, and not-for-profit organizations. He partners with his clients to consult with them on new and changing regulations and identifies accounting and business opportunities for their continued growth and success. Doug is a member of Keiter’s Real Estate and Construction Industry and Manufacturing Industry teams. In addition, he is a member of the Keiter Merger and Acquisition team and leads numerous due diligence, quality of earnings, and M&A consulting engagements for clients located across the country.

 

Brett is responsible for performing accounting and auditing related tasks, such as planning and preparing audits, understanding and testing of internal controls, analytical procedures, and testing of detail transactions, recording transactions in journals, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and supervising completion of audit procedures. His client focus is primarily in the real estate and construction industry. He also provides audit and business assurance services to privately-held businesses to clients in the manufacturing, retail and distribution, and technology industries, as well as employee benefit plan audits and not-for-profit organizations.  


About NACA and the CCA certification:

The National Association of Construction Auditors (NACA) was created to enhance the control environment related to construct projects, by addressing the needs of auditors/accountants who spend a significant amount of their efforts auditing and/or controlling construction projects; and owner construction facilities management personnel who want to improve their knowledge base of contracts and process controls resulting in their construction projects being better managed and controlled; and Project Managers, construction management personnel, architects, and owners representatives who want to improve their knowledge base of process controls, thereby improving the overall product delivered to their customers. The Certified Construction Auditor (CCA) certification focuses on accounting/auditing/consulting professionals whose primary experience is in the field of auditing and evaluating internal controls in the construction project environment.
