Seeing Green: Additional Benefits May Be Coming to Section 179D

As tax rates increase and common deductions are reduced or phased-out, looking for other outlets of tax savings is something that all taxpayers are paying more attention to now.

One area, in which there is an increased deduction, is in the design and construction of energy-efficient commercial buildings. Section 179D started several years ago and actually expired on December 31, 2013. An extension of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, (“EPAct”) has been introduced in the Senate and proposes even more benefits related to the 179D deduction.  Read More
