Developing long-term relationships with his clients and delivering the highest quality customer service is a staple of Richard’s practice. Richard has over 20 years of accounting and auditing experience in both corporate and public accounting. He provides audit and assurance services in a variety of industries including tax-exempt organizations, multi-family housing, healthcare entities, and assisted living facilities. Richard is responsible for executing audit engagements through the performance of risk assessment procedures, determination of the proper mix of internal control and substantive testing, and the overall evaluation of the audit to ensure it was performed in accordance with the appropriate auditing and accounting standards.

Richard works with tax-exempt organizations such as foundations, religious entities, private schools, associations, and voluntary health and welfare organizations. He supervises some of Keiter’s larger engagements that are subject to the Uniform Guidance. Richard also has his Certified Fraud Examiner designation.

Richard is the Practice Leader of the Business Assurance and Advisory Services Group. He is responsible for the execution of the department’s vision for growth, and for client service operations including staffing and resource allocation, technical accounting and financial reporting matters, and regulatory compliance. Richard leads the Firm’s Not-for-Profit team and is a member of the Healthcare and Medical Practices industry team.

Prior to joining Keiter, Richard served as the Director of Accounting and Corporate Compliance for a tax-exempt organization. This role involved implementing and managing significant accounting processes such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and financial statement presentation. In addition, Richard maintained the corporate compliance of the organization which ensured that the organization remained in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations.

Richard is a Virginia native, serves on several boards and committees in his spare time and lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and three children.
