Keiter Wins 2019 Outstanding Marketing Initiative LEA EDGE Award for Online Sales Tax Communications

We are excited to announce that Keiter was honored with the Outstanding Marketing Initiative Award during the 2019 Leading Edge Alliance (LEA) EDGE Awards for monitoring and communicating the changes of the Supreme Court decision on South Dakota v. Wayfair, allowing states to require sales tax on online purchases.

Award Overview

According to LEA, Keiter diligently monitored the Wayfair v. South Dakota lawsuit, then put its energy and resources into becoming a premier expert on the matter when the U.S. Supreme Court issued its opinion in mid-2018. The Wayfair decision seismically changed online sales and state sales tax collection throughout the country.

Once the Supreme Court decision was issued, the Firm launched advertising and social media campaigns, published blog posts, had Keiter’s State and Local Tax team presenting to the business community, hosted seminars, and created guides and maps updating business owners on different state laws for collecting sales tax for online sales from out-of-state vendors.

The results of the Firm’s efforts included ROI of 300% for new project work, two new projects directly related to the Wayfair decision, $13,000 in additional consulting fees from existing clients within the first six months after the Wayfair decision, and State and Local Tax Team Leader Terry Barrett being featured as a source in Inc. Magazine’s most-clicked article of 2018.”
