Keiter within the Richmond Community
Each year, Keiter team members participate in a firm-wide event called “Community Day,” where they are encouraged to put down their work and serve the community. For our 2025 Community Day, more than 130 Keiter employees volunteered with 15 different organizations across the Richmond area.
Thank you to all of our nonprofit organizations that have continued to help Richmond and surrounding communities in both small and big ways!
This year we dedicated time and resources to a variety of causes and organizations, including:
Knowledge and Resource Sharing
Keiter volunteers organized and wrapped gifts for students, including handwritten notes of encouragement with READ RVA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing judgement-free instruction and tutoring to adult learners to build foundational reading, writing, and digital skills and empower them to move forward.- Keiter team members dedicated time to improve financial literacy for high school students at Junior Achievement Finance Park.
- Keiter team members assembled support kits for the unhoused and participated in mental health training via Project Helping and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
- Keiter team members also volunteered with Housing Families First, an organization dedicated to empowering families and young adults experiencing homelessness by providing support, stability, and pathways to a brighter, more secure future.
Donating and Preparing Food
A group of Keiter team members packaged food items with FeedMore for the “small bags” distributed to Meals on Wheels clients.- Keiter volunteers prepared lunches of love with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond, an organization that provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with children receiving care at local hospitals throughout Richmond.
- Tax Senior Associate, Janet Snellings, organized full Thanksgiving meals for families in need during the holiday season for “Operation Drumstick”, Good Samaritan Ministries.
- Tax Manager, Tom Blake, served at Feeding Southwest Virginia with the focus of preparing meals for children in the area.
Volunteering Outdoors
- Keiter employees volunteered with Keep Virginia Cozy for the fourth year in a row to clean up 586 pounds of litter from Ancarrow’s Landing, more than doubling the weight removed last year.
- Another team trimmed down brush and helped prepare the Italian Gardens for Winter at Maymont Foundation.
- A group of Keiter team members volunteered at Soar365, an organization committed to building a world where people with disabilities play, work, socialize and thrive as part of their local community. The team assisted with painting and staining park posts.
- A dozen team members volunteered around the grounds of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, cutting back brush, mulching, and removing vines.
- Some team members also participated in Community Day early through volunteering at a water station during the Richmond Marathon.
