CPAs, like all providers of personal financial services, are now required by law to inform their clients of their policies regarding privacy of client information. CPAs have been and continue to be bound by professional standards of confidentiality that are even more stringent than those required by law. We adhere to Virginia state laws and AICPA guidelines for collection and use of client information to protect your right to privacy.
Specifically, AICPA regulations prohibit CPAs from sharing or selling any contact information to a third party without written consent from you, the client.

We mat collect information from you such as, but not limited to, your name, email address, mailing address, phone/fax numbers, payment information and employment information.
Any collected personal data will be used internally for communications including but not limited to, subscribed digital newsletters, relevant mailings and processing payments.
For current and former clients, we do not disclose any nonpublic personal information obtained in the course of our practice except as required or permitted by law or authorized by you. Permitted disclosures include, for instance, providing information to our employees and, in limited situations, to unrelated third parties who need to know that information to assist us in providing services to you. In all such situations, we stress the confidential nature of information being shared.
We retain records relating to professional services that we provide so that we are better able to assist you with your professional needs and, in some cases, to comply with professional guidelines. In order to guard your nonpublic personal information, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with our professional standards.
Under the “Hosting Services” ethics interpretation in the AICPA’s Code of Professional Conduct (ET §1.295.143), CPA independence is impaired by taking responsibility for hosting a client’s data or records online or in the cloud. In keeping with AICPA Code of Professional Conduct requirements, Keiter does not store client financial information in the Keiter portal beyond one year of the upload date of the records.
We will continue to use the Keiter Portal for securely sharing documents during an engagement(s). We are dedicated to staying current with technology and data regulations to keep data secure now and in the future.
