Supporting professional growth through collaboration and specialization
Some of Keiter’s Associates and Senior Associates recently attended a Niche Group overview session, led by Marketing & Practice Development Director, Fonda Lang, to learn how these groups support both technical development and career growth. Niche groups at Keiter are more than just technical meetings, they are communities where professionals share knowledge, grow expertise, and collaborate across the firm. For new hires, they offer a practical way to plug into the firm, deepen technical knowledge, and start building a personal brand early in their careers.
Attendees were encouraged to think about their interests, strengths, and long-term goals to identify whether joining a niche team might be the right fit and when to get involved. The discussion focused on how participation can sharpen technical skills, support business development, and create opportunities to collaborate with professionals outside of their immediate teams.
For many, the draw was the chance to specialize in areas they are genuinely excited about. “I’m excited to join a group that specializes in the industries I love to work in the most,” shared Tianna Wooldridge, BAAS Senior Associate. “I’m also excited to build my personal brand and make connections through the membership in the group.”
Trevor Davis, Tax Associate, highlighted how niche teams can shape both expertise and visibility. “Specialization isn’t just about deepening your expertise- it’s a powerful way to build and market your personal brand.” He is especially interested in using niche group involvement to explore which client profiles he connects with most, and to grow his skills and relationships in those areas over time.
At Keiter, niche groups serve as a built-in resource: a way to learn, ask questions in a smaller setting, and start charting a path toward the industries and services where they can make the biggest impact.
