Key takeaways from this year’s forum
Keiter had the privilege of sponsoring the 2024 Commercial Real Estate Forum held at the Dewey Gottwald Center in Richmond. Professionals gathered for this event to gain insights about how population trends impact business.
The keynote speaker, John Maketa, presented “Demography is Destiny: How Population Trends Will Impact Business” where he covered three main points:
- By learning about the predictable patterns of human behavior we can better understand our own positions in society, how we influence each other and how our needs will change based on life stages and external factors. He believes that having this understanding will help organizations achieve success.
- The success of a business relies on recruiting and retaining top talent. He shared that it is important to invest in keeping your people feeling empowered and motivated.
- Embracing DEI initiatives is becoming increasingly more important as the United States continues to become more diverse. He urged business leaders to not miss out on minority markets and to support more women moving into top level leadership roles.
Elizabeth Lewis, CPA, Business Assurance & Advisory Services Senior Manager at Keiter, attended this event and shared her thoughts:
“John’s comments regarding talent really hit home as the audit department at Keiter is about to welcome its largest class of new hires ever in August. Having “A-Players” at all levels creates an environment of trust and mutual respect that translates to exceptional client service and a positive working environment for the whole team. This hiring round was excellent in both number and quality, and I look forward to seeing how they each contribute to the firm and our community.”
Keiter remains committed to fostering educational opportunities and community engagement within the commercial real estate sector. Forums like this not only enhance our understanding but also strengthen our connections, paving the way for a more informed and inclusive industry.
