Keiter within the Richmond Community
Each year, Keiter team members participate in a firm-wide event called “Community Day.” During this day, team members are encouraged to put down their work and support local organizations throughout the Richmond area. For our 2024 Community Day, our team actively participated in 10 different charitable activities.
Thank you to all of our nonprofit organizations that have continued to help Richmond and surrounding communities in small and big ways!
This year we dedicated time and resources to a variety of causes and organizations, including:
Knowledge and Resource Sharing
- Keiter team members dedicated time to improve financial literacy for high school students at Junior Achievement Finance Park.
- Keiter team members assembled support kits for the unhoused and participated in mental health training via Project Helping and American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
Donating and Preparing Food
-
Keiter volunteers prepared lunches of love with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond. After the meals were prepped, they were taken directly to VCU Children’s Hospital for lunchtime.
- Tax Senior Associate, Janet Snellings, organized 5 full Thanksgiving meals for families in need during the holiday season for “Operation Drumstick”, Good Samaritan Ministries.
- Tax Manager, Tom Blake, served at Feeding Southwest Virginia with the focus of preparing meals for children in the area.
Volunteering Outdoors
- Keiter employees volunteered with Keep Virginia Cozy to clean up over 100 pounds of litter from Belle Isle.
- Another team of trimmed down brush and helped prepare the Italian Gardens for Winter at Maymont Foundation.
- A group of Keiter team members also volunteered at Soar365, an organization committed to building a world where people with disabilities play, work, socialize and thrive as part of their local community. The team assisted with outdoor facility upkeep.
- Keiter team members volunteered at Goochland Cares, an organization that works to provide basic human services and healthcare to Goochland County neighbors in need. The group worked outside to sorting through donated clothing and household items.
- Nearly 15 team members volunteered around the grounds of Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden.
- Some team members participated in Community Day early through volunteering at a water station during the Richmond Marathon
