A Campus Recruiter’s Dedication to Helping Accounting Majors

Alanna Johnson serves as a guide to students and interns interested in Keiter

Accounting recruitment campus visits

As we begin a new year and edge towards a new recruitment cycle, I have had an opportunity to reflect on this past fall. At Keiter, my role is a Campus Recruiter for Keiter’s accounting internships, externships, and entry-level accounting positions. This fall I visited seven different campuses across Virginia as well as eastern North Carolina. While on campus, I attended a variety of events: classroom visits, on-campus tabling, career fairs, meet the firms, accounting bootcamps, why accounting events, accounting competitions, and accounting society meetings.

It is always a pleasure to meet and engage with college students majoring in accounting, finance, and/or business. I enjoy opportunities to chat and answer questions and ultimately share what makes Keiter special. It is always my goal to give students an introduction to Keiter by sharing our values of innovation, relationships, collaboration, and accountability at work. I also take pride in sharing how our Firm and individual team members support the RVA community. Additionally, I give accounting majors insight into our service lines and the industries in which we serve.

Being a resource for college accounting students

In my previous experience as an academic advisor, I spent much of my time listening to college students’ educational and career goals and helping them create a plan to meet and achieve those goals. At Keiter, I get to apply these skills in my recruiter role. I am always open to reviewing resumes and exploring how candidates’ education and experience fits with our internship and entry-level career opportunities. I work closely with accounting students, listen to their career goals, and offer advice and guidance. It is my goal to make authentic connections with students, assist them with navigating the recruitment process, and be a friendly face when they join the Keiter team.

While much of my work is done on college campuses, it is always a pleasure to come home to Keiter. I work closely with people from different groups within the Firm. While we all have different functions, one thing remains the same, we are fervent about Firm growth and bringing in new talent.

I truly feel Keiter is invested in each team member’s professional and personal success. Keiter values the unique perspectives that each team member brings and is committed to ensuring that our workplace is inclusive and that we can bring our whole selves to work. I am grateful to be a part of the Keiter team and honored to be able to share all about what makes Keiter special with the college students I meet.
