Defense contractors receive updated CMMC 2.0 guidance
Keiter’s Technology team discusses the rule proposed by the Department of Defense (DoD) under CFR 48 to integrate Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements into federal contracts. This is expected to be the final rule released by the DoD as they define the framework for the CMMC 2.0 program.
The proposed amendments seek to enhance cybersecurity measures by requiring contractors to achieve certain CMMC levels prior to contract awards, maintain compliance throughout the duration of the contract, and offer clearer guidelines on verification procedures and requirements.
Key highlights of the proposed rule include information on:
- CMMC certification requirements
- Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS) verification procedures
- New definitions and provisions
- Timing and compliance standards
