Assurance Partner Recognized for Commitment to Community Giving
Assurance Partner Amy Rybar Menefee, CPA was featured in the “Heroes Among Us” TV special with WTVR CBS 6 where she was recognized for her longstanding dedication to the Richmond community’s underserved and houseless populations through her nonprofit organization, Charitable Souls Foundation.
Since the Foundation was founded in 2001, volunteers have logged more than 4,000 hours in the community which includes distributing more than 800 holiday gift bags; more than 2,500 children’s books to children in transitional housing, and about 2,200 sleeping bags to the city’s houseless population.
On April 11, 2001, the Charitable Souls Foundation launched after starting as an idea created by four friends whose commitment to serving their community goes back to their days at Virginia Commonwealth University. The Foundation engages in various outreach projects targeted at improving the community and the quality of life of its members. Projects include an annual Sleeping Bag Project to benefit the houseless and those without heat; a Holiday Gift Bag Project for the underserved populations in our community; and a Literacy Project for at-risk youth.
