Gain real-world experience in public accounting with a paid, award-winning Internship at Keiter. If you have completed at least one semester of an intermediate level accounting class, you can apply for an internship to learn and receive mentorship from seasoned professionals, including Partners, perform work that is typical of a first-year Associate, and immerse yourself in Richmond, the city the Firm has called home for over 45 years.

Designed for students early in their academic journey, Keiter’s Externship is an immersive multi-day experience designed to help you explore the world of public accounting. Whether you are just beginning to consider a career in accounting or want a closer look at what goes on behind the scenes at a CPA firm, this program gives you the opportunity to gain valuable insights before committing to an internship or a full-time role.
You can apply for an externship if you are a rising sophomore or junior interested in learning more about the field of public accounting and Keiter’s unique culture.

We understand that the busy seasons of an accounting career can be challenging to work/life integration for those new to the industry. At Keiter, we support you through the busiest times of the year with opportunities to take advantage of perks including our concierge services, team socials, meal reimbursement, fitness programs, and mental health programs.
In late 2023, Keiter partnered with Reynolds Community College to launch the Keiter Cooperative, an initiative designed to support students nearing the completion of their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree and ready to begin a career in accounting. This program allows students to gain real-world experience while continuing their education, and it turn, Keiter is able to identify and nurture a strong pool of emerging talent.
